FleetMaster OSS Limited was founded in January 2001 with the specific aim to assist fleet operators meet both their legal and moral obligations regarding safe vehicle operation and well trained and developed drivers and staff. Our experience enables us to work in partnership with our clients to improve their profitability and competitiveness by training and developing the people, the systems and the organisation itself.

Our portfolio includes the management of a wide diversity of projects ranging from small-scale support activities for many owner-operators and SMEs, to large-scale projects with some of the best known brands in the logistics industry. In fact it is fair to say that whilst you travel along the UK motorway network, FleetMaster probably work with one out of four of the brands that you see.

Our road to success started in 2001 with an invitation from the UK Department for Transport to join a working party, which included Dr Michael Coyle (University of Huddersfield) and Andrew Davies (AEAT) to both write and produce an industry leading driver development program to be embedded into the Logistics Industry. This lead to the development of the SAFED program and further projects including the Fuel Efficiency Advisers Scheme (FEA) and Fleet Efficiency Reviews (FER). All the projects were funded through the Road Haulage Modernisation Fund.

Our most recent project, in 2011, was the development and delivery of the SAFED program to the New Zealand Ministry for Transport, with the support of the UK Department for Transport. FleetMaster's main focus is to support drivers maintain their skills, correct attitude and behaviours whilst out on the road, using the road is the most dangerous activity most people ever undertake – and driving for work is particularly risky.

Improving fuel performance therefore makes sound commercial sense. Typically fuel costs account for 20-30% of the total operating costs of a fleet. However, fuel costs are not fixed overheads and they will vary according to factors such as vehicle type, driving style and mileage - all factors FMO can assist with.

Legally we all have a duty of care to follow the rules of the road, and ensure that we drive carefully, our vehicles are roadworthy, licensed, certified and insured.
